Rebel Rebel
Spring 2023
Rebel Rebel was the final animation made in the 2D Animation Studio Pipeline class in Spring 2023. The animation was made in Toon Boom Harmony Advanced with all 15 members of the class and won Purdue's Fractal 2023 Showcase Audience Choice award.
My Contributions
I started out on the script team. I helped formulate ideas present in the scenes and primarily worked on the dialogue between characters. I then headed the assets team as I went through our backgrounds and added minor details that gave the scene a bit more sense of realism. I added chairs, posters, lighting, signs, and weapons, while also altering backgrounds of the same location so they matched each other in order to remain consistent. Next, I worked as a voice actor and director; I voiced the character Joe and directed the other voice actors throughout the voice recording process. Finally, I worked as an animator and animated the entirety of the ink blot scene as well as the start of the mini mart scene.
Script
When working on the script, I helped by improving dialogue written in scenes and by cleaning up plot holes and continuity errors. I also came up with the activities that take place in the animation.
Assets
When I worked on assets, I added details to the backgrounds such as benches, flags, sunlight, trash bins, chairs, and more.
Animating
I worked on several scenes in the animation such as the ink blot scenes and the introduction to the mini mart scene. The scenes I animated are displayed below.
Voice Acting
This was my first voice acting role. I voiced Joe in Rebel Rebel and drew inspiration from other animated military men such as Glenn Dolphman from Inside Job and the Green Army Men from Toy Story. I also directed the other voice actors when recording lines. Below are some of my character's lines.
