Tom and Jerry

Museum of Useless Things is my final animation for my Introduction to 3D Animation class at Purdue University. I worked in Maya with partner Belle Higginbotham, who is also pursuing a dual degree in Game Development and Design and Animation and Visual Effects. In an effort to mimic the 11 second club's monthly competition, we chose an audio clip and animated characters of our choosing using the audio. We selected an audio clip found on social media, where a man tells his boss that someone in the office is possessed by an owl. After repeating the statement and asking "Who?", the boss stares in silence for a few moments while the man records his reaction, and when the boss's smile fades and he realizes that this is a prank, he angrily tells him to turn off the camera. Belle and I found this video humorous, and agreed that animating character to this audio would be enjoyable and amusing. When deciding which character rigs to use, we searched an available free library and when we stumbled upon Tom and Jerry, we found them to be a perfect fit since Jerry is always playing tricks on Tom. 

Contributions

I contributed to this group effort by animating all of Jerry, as well as animating Tom in the second half of the scene when he is thinking and inevitably tells Jerry to "turn the damn thing off". Belle contributed by setting up the scene with furniture and importing the two characters into the scene. She also animated the first half of Tom's animation in the scene.
